And the next haiku Monday host is ...

Listening to the sounds of CSNY Deja Vu .. as played by the Waybacks and guests..

Our wee bitty haiku group is hanging in there.... barely .. :)  at least when I'm hosting.
I do truly appreciate all who submitted haiku.
♡♡♡♡

I did take Karl's suggestion and asked for a few haiku from the guests we had over the weekend.
I did get one .. it went something like this..

Sound haiku, huh? umm
umumm umm, ummm, umumm, ummm
A haiku of sound?

Music festering..  The foot beside me is a new BFF.  I shared the clear liquid with umpf .. he shared the water without umpf. A win win situation all around.

You know ...
I'm going to float the haiku feather right back to Karl..
He tickled me with his..

Haiku feather of fate.
It will land without a sound
Yet bestow honor

 Alas,

I don't have a feather to give back, but I have a dogwood blossom to give..

Taken today after work..

I've not seen a Dogwood blooms of that color. Very nice. The ones I am used to seeing are white with just a bit of color at the petal tips.

I, for one, am not the least bit haiku ticklish.

Good evening Foam,

Well gee whiz, Thanks. I will try to get something up tomorrow.

Although I am wondering. Is it time to put this meme to rest? I'm happy to play on, however as the number of players dwindle, it seems it may be time for change. What do you think?

foam said...

My thoughts exactly .. We can either quit or just take turns coming up with a topic .

X,
I do know that. Good to see you, friend.

A very pretty dogwood blossom and I must say I like your shoes, I have always admired your footwear.
Sorry I don't have a haiku for you dear Foamy, I am struggling to write poems at present.
Happy weekend dear sweet pea!
xoxoxo ♡

Good evening Foam,

I would like to wait for input from the other players, before I Post. You know, to see how everyone feels. I'm thinking a finale on the contest and then perhaps a weekly rotation.

I hate to say it, but Karl is probably right. It has been fun. I'll miss the competition. But the participants have really dwindled, and the poems have strayed far from the original intent of haiku at times. Troll has never resurfaced to bring us back into line.

I guess most of the old guard is fatigued or lost in facebook, twitter, or other places.

I know my life can get pretty demanding at times as well (work or play or other recent stuff).

Let's see if anyone else weighs in.

I do try, Mago.

Serendipity,
That is fine with me. I do know that many of the old timers are on FB. I am in contact with them there.

Karl,
Sounds good to me.

Dianne,
Thank you on the shoes. I do try to buy shoes that are comfortable and that I can wear anywhere and with anything. :-)

LX,
Whoops, sorry. We have a fair number of pink dogwoods blooming here. Perhaps they are domesticated I'm not wild. I don't really know. They are pretty though, aren't they? :-)

foam said...

Whoops, again. Look at the silly AutoCorrect mistake. It's supposed to say .. and not wild.

My schedule barely allows for much more than a haiku or two, and perhaps a visual if my hair's acurl. That said, I'll be miss'n on the little diversion it does allow me.

I come each week amazed at everyone's clever word play, and leave wishing, "Damn, why couldn't I say it so well"

Not a traditionalist in most any form, I never mind a variation of intent, but do find when someone hits IT smack on, I'm always blown away.

Be well and happy, dear Foamy, you, ma'am, are a blessing:)

Foam & Dianne

There are occasional pink-tinged wild dogwoods, but this one is doubtless a cultivar that was developed through selective breeding. Many dogwoods do show some faint pink, and often white flowers do fade to pink as they age.

Many flowers that have a dominant color like white, blue or pink will throw variations in wild populations. An example is pink or white bluebonnets. All the colors are usually in the dominant color, but the secondary colors only show when the dominant color is muted. It works a bit like colored leaves. The colorss have been there all along, but can only be seen when the chlorophyll dies and the green mask is removed.

Interestingly, when you collect and dry plants for botanical reference collections, you may find drastic changes from the live color to the dried color. So much so that sometimes the preserved plant may key to a different species based on the flower color.

Rafa, you said it well. The word-play has kept me engaged in this meme since I found it. There have been some astounding turns of phrase with so few words. I have always looked forward to see what stories others will tell.

Rafa,
I understand about schedules and time constraints. I don't mind variations in haiku. I've read some of the history and it appears to be ever changing in how it can be approached.
You be happy to now, you hear? I do think you are quite the bees knees. :-)

foam said...

Serendipity,
No doubt this dogwood is a cultivar. I have seen wild ones that were pink tipped, even going into the red. But, mostly, they are white.
I do love blue bonnets. LX over yonder at xl-entropy.blogspot.com has just posted photos of blue bonnets some of which were rather pale.. almost white.

You actually brought me back into the fray of haiku a year or more ago. It had been several months since I had posted when you came knocking on the door inviting me to participate.

Bees have knees?

Next you're gonna tell me they give a helluva humma whilst they're down on 'em. I guess drones will be drones with their stingers aplume;p

You're right 'Dipity...sometimes it's nail, hammer...BAM! Awesome stuff
