My parents ...

My father used to hum a melody to my mother and then make her guess which song it was. Good thing he always hummed the same tune since he was tone deaf. Her guess was always correct..
You Are My Sunshine
My father's version was of course her favorite version :) However, she liked the song quite well as sung by Johnny Cash too. At one her last Christmases I downloaded this version for her...

i wish it didn't have a stupid add, but, alas ..

That is a lovely memory dear Foamy and a beautiful photo. Such a sweet song too, I used to sing it when I was a little girl.

Thanks. I was scrolling through some Flickr photos of mine and came across this oe. I had forgotten I had uploaded it.
Brought back memories. They were only married seven years. My father passed away.

It is a lovely photograph, your Mom is so pretty, she only looks like a girl herself, your Dad, a handsome man, so sad that they had so little time together...and you lost your Father.
I miss my Mum and my Dad, two wonderful parents.

Sweet photo! So, did your mom sing You Are My Sunshine along with Johnny Cash? Music is amazing. Some of my best memories have to do with singing with my brother and mom on road trips. My dad couldn't carry a tune, and I remember the sound of him next to me at church, singing in his monotone. Even less-than-great singing brings nice memories.

Dianne,
Yes, she was pretty and managed to stay remarkably young looking even into her old age. She was 38 in that photo. And having been a daddy's girl I thought my father very handsome .. :-) I do know you miss your parents. x x x

Carol,
You know? I can't remember. She probably did since she at times sang other tunes. I do remember her whistling to the tune though. She was a great whistler. She really had quite a talent for it. I seem to have inherited my dad's singing voice. I wonder what memories my sons will have of that since I will sing when the mood strikes. :-)

And did you inherit your mom's whistling abilities? My grandpa could whistle like a bird. I think the whistle gene stopped with him, though. Sing it out, Foamie!

Nope, no singing or whistling abilities at all. However I can play the piano which is not as much of a punishment to listen to as my singing is.
