Fierce protector of her home turf.... and Haiku Monday ....

a fierce protector of her home turf ..
is the host for this upcoming Haiku Monday.
 The topic is prey.
Go visit him and see what it's all about.

My contribution:

 Nesting eagle shifts..
 Lightening quick talons strike hawk.....
 Don't hunt the hunter!

Here's the inspiration for this particular haiku:
a mother protecting her brood, her home turf and
ending up with a convenient meal at the same time..

And another ..

Eyes focused on mark..
Stealthy approach, weapon lifts......
WHACK!! The fly is dead!  :-)

Hunter turned dinner....nature creates the most wondrous shades of grey. Nailed it!!!

Screw the "shoo", swatting flies brings out the hunter in all of us. I hate it when their guts stick to the wall, though.

Thanks for the SMILE... You're the best!

HaHa... in my house, hunter turned dinner is naught but normal doings betwixt the sheets. Sometimes the table turns so darn fast it's like I'm spinning round a lazy susan ...sans a
Susan and lazy just gets me, well, ya' know...

Good times--

That is an interesting take.

I am amazed a hawk would dare! Oh, I know, even for them, it isn't always logical. The best hunters, of whatever kind, keep their emotions out of things. I guess even some animals, and birds, aren't what they seem?

I hate seeing useless death. Isn't there enough already? Still, it is very unusual, disturbing, and both depressing and uplifting. Odd.

Doom, I was assuming that it was perhaps a young, inexperienced hawk. Of course, sometimes one does not get to learn from experience....
Useless death is depressing, but for the most part I don't think that animals kill uselessly. It's us humans that do so.

Foamy dear, such a beautiful little dog you have there, she is so cute.
I thought I better pop over and check on you, for some reason your posts are not showing up in my Dashboard even though I have tried to rectify the problem...I will try again.
Thanks for your encouraging comments.

Heya Dianne twice! I've noticed that on other bloggers sites. On their sidebar it says that I've not updated the blog in like 8 months or so. Oh well, something is broken somewhere. But it doesn't really matter. There is really not much happening here besides the occasional haiku Monday contribution. And You know I'll always visit you, Dianne.

Amazing video of the hawk flying into the eagle nest. Yes, don't hunt the hunter!

Your pup is adorable. Very wise to get a dog that is the color of your chair - or did the chair come first? I should buy all black furniture to match Dharma's coat.

Carol,
The dog came first .. :) We got the couch because it was long enough for Mr Foam to crash on. Color was incidental.
