as many of you know,
quite a new years eve shindig was hosted by boxer
and co-hosted by a few other bloggers for charitable purposes.
one of them was auntie belle who hosted a
word play and a limerick contest.

i was a winner  in the limerick category thanks to uncle (you know.. mr auntie belle)!
he took the prerogative in choosing a limerick winner
since auntie had bedecked one of his deer trophies
with a chickory inspired new year's eve garland.
and auntie's winner is fishy with a delightful limerick
of her own

i'm terribly pleased to be chosen as a winner
and i will match her donation to my chosen local
charity.  let's just say it involves food and children.
as soon as i confirm their mailing address tomorrow
i will send auntie their information.

tomorrow is monday and the new year
begins in earnest for me.
may we all have a great year despite
the inevitable downs.  i'm planning on
counting the good things though.

Dear Foamy, I love your garland - and it's woodsy setting. Boxer's bash was really something, wasn't it?

Good on ya for choosing a charity that involves kids and food! Thanks for stopping by my place for "virtual" brunch and helping up my contribution to the Cincinnati Freestore Foodbank. The more I get around to see what everyone's been doing, the more I just want to up the tally for my donation.

Wishing you all the best in the new year!

Hey there Eggy!
Thanks for dropping by.
It was something. And let me tell you ... I've never been to a crueler "virtual" brunch. Heck, I've never been to a virtual brunch before. The images were so scrumptious and I was actually starved when I looked at them .. lol. But you did inspire me to fix french toast with sourdough bread for the family. They were pleased.
Wishing you all the best too!

Congratulations, Foam. I didn't know you had a winning limmerick in you.

foam said...

well, apparently i did according to uncle.
it's posted down below in the other post and also over at aunties. it's a bit bawdy though ... :)

i loved your limerick. and boy that was racy for aunty's space. i bet she had to lay on a fainting couch and fan herself. grherhaha

COngratulations on your win! it was a delight. i will never handle a banana quite the same way.

and good on you, dearest foam, for your generosity

wishing you a great 2011.

Cool limerick Foamy dear, congratulations on your win!
Yes those shoes are lovely, I have a few pairs of 'spectator' shoes but hardly wear them for the same reasons that you experience.
I prefer something comfortable like strappy sandals and espadrilles.

xoxoxo ♡

You only won because I couldn't think of any clean limericks.

aha ha ha

congrats, foam
happy new year to all

foam said...

yes, it was racy for anntie's blog .. lol ..
i almost didn't post it.

and a happy new year to you too, tinkerbell!
good to see you out and about!

oddly enough those shoes are fairly uncomfortable. i just walk in them like a clodhopper .. :)
but you are right, i usually wear flat shoes, shoes that will take me through hill and dale.

well, duhhhhh ..
of course you can't think of clean limericks.

ya, and a happy to your to you and family!! .. :)

how festive!
And what a great idea.

I won't even ask for the inspiration behind your poem. I'll simply enjoy it for what it is.

I don't think I could write a good limerick.
My mind, these days, just doesn't think that quick.
My poem'ld sound silly
I'm sure it would really
Make anyone reading it very sick.

foam said...

it was really very fun!!
boxer had a great idea.,
to write a fun bawdy limerick
that referenced an old hopeful prick
yet didn't sound too lewd
and put one in good mood
is what inspired the banana pick ...

oh well.. i try ..

and you do too have a quick mind. Und keine Widerrede about that, ya hear?

She came up with a marvelous way to ring in the New Year, didn't she?

Congrats on your win, you multi-talented sweet girl, you!

Charmed by that lovely garland ya' made, Foamy!

Thanky fer yore wit an' yore generous spirit.

How wuz the first day back??

I'se like yore clan--the Christmas lives on fer the full 12 days, but I is cheatin' a bit by takin' doen the non-essentials.

Onward into 2011!!

Aunty Belle said...

Yes, Chicory, I did have ter fight off a faitin' spell--an would ya believe?? I'se had a few folks shakin' their fingers under mah nose fer lettin' it appear--I tried to explain I din't use comment by then Uncle had seen an' howled wif' laughter--so what's a poor AuntyBelle to do???

(Foamy, ya knows I luves ya an think youse witty--an yore win is fair, fer shure, it's jes' that some folks wif tender sensibilities ...well, ya know.)

Jawohl, meine gutte frau.

Everything seems to involve food and children.

foam said...

Aunty Belle,
First day back was okay. And I might start taking down a few nonessentials this evening myself.

Oh, And I do hereby promise to always post g rated comments at your blog .. :)
I'm not always of a ribald nature, but sometimes i can be.

ps: I'm thinking you and uncle must balance each other out in interesting ways .. :)

foam said...,
Dann is alles gut .. :)

of course ...
although i've tried to teach my own children to live off air. didn't work though. i had to feed them anyway.

I once knew a hermit named Dave..
Who kept a dead whore in his cave.
She was moldy and green,
and smelled oh so obscene...
But think of the money he saved.

Meanwhile...have you seen any birds out today?

foam said...

ahh haha, hehe .. and an ick for good measure.
there was a boneman named boneman
whose ribald humor killed a toucan
(a bird! it must be all your fault then)

and now i'm finished with lim'ricking
because i can ...

Aunty Belle said...

takin' down the rest now, mebbe youse doin' same, but waz thinkin' yore pretty garland should stay awhile.

foam said...

nope, haven't taken down a single thing yet. i do need to get started. and i think i'll start by making all the youth in my house do it! when my son is home my place turns into hangout central. right now i have a bunch of 19 and 20 year olds sprawled out on the den floor drawing in sketch books and listening to the beatles.

Boxer said...

I had no idea you were such a limerick talent. Me? not so much. And don't even get me started on Haikus.

I think of all of the wonderul garland photos, yours was one of my favorites. I'd love to make one that is WATER PROOF and hang it outside all of the time.

Happy New Year - hope you're having a good week.

i'm not always a good limerick writer or haiku writer.
it depends on how inspired i am.
well, i fudged with the garland. i wasn't even going to attempt to make one of those chickory stars. they seem to involve precision, not to mention a glue gun! snowflakes, however, and doublesided sticky tape .. i can do that .. :) but you are right. it would be great to do an outside proof garland.
i'm having a pretty good week and i hope you are too.

them cookin' pots--the one ya mentioned ya found in Germany? like the one mah black-eyed peas wuz in? Is yours the same pattern or a different pattern? Thar' wuz a gorgeous black background pattern wif' nasturtiums on it.

These are ASTA, I tried to find more but the company seems to have gone outa bidness. They are $$$ on Ebay. Ouch.
Mine are 20 (ish) years old. A neighbor man used to rep Hummels--sold 'em to Disney. An he also became the rep for ASTA in Florida.

Two of us bought them from him--a dear elderly lady who lived next door--an when she died her daughter gave me her mother's pots--so I has a double set of 'em. Love these thangs. Bet youse enamoured of yores too.

dianne said...

I love your new avatar, what a beautiful kitty! xoxoxo ♡

foam said...

i only have two of them. a small one and a large one like the one you posted. right now, i can't recall where i stashed them. i can't cook in them anymore since as my mother got elderly and started going into senility she started scratching the bottom of the pots while cooking. i don't think it would be good to cook with them anymore. but the outside is still pretty! i think both of them have a light background.
now it's going to bother me that i don't know where they are!

thanks! i just felt like switching around a little bit. the beer glass is the longest i've ever had a single avatar up.
