rambling.. boring stuff..

i am such a distracted silly..
i am worrying for nothing.
of course i have not seen a contract.
i am tenured for the first time this year.
you see..
my professional adult career has been interupted by graduate schooling, babies, other jobs ..
when i went back to teaching 5 years ago i was hired as all new teachers are.
on a contract basis from year to year.
if you do what you need to be doing it's not really anything to worry about.

but still, with absolute clarity i realize that i cannot do this anymore.

i'd rather wash pots and pans in a restaurant..

i'm not kidding..

i have much experience with that...

there was a time when i thought i'd never get out of food services..

or administrative, clerical work..
at least, all that was in a library system..

speaking of food services..
i have a craving for something sweet..

maybe i'll buy a donut franchise ..
(kind of kidding)

after all, i used to be an early morning baker in a small french style bakery here in north carolina anyway..

ps: oh, and i really appreciate all my comments that i have been receiving. i used to be so good at answering them. but, i'm kind of undecided as to the future of this blog ..
the question has been ..
to blog or not to blog ..
or to start a new blog ..

the only reason i still blog is cause i enjoy contact with ya'll..

I'm wondering about the wisdom of a German woman opening up a French doughnut shop.

I understand where you're at. That's why many schools have sabbaticals for faculty.

Congratulations on your tenure, and best of luck in your decision to stay or go to another workplace.

I would miss your blog (it's usually my first click), and I love it when you show up on mine, but maybe it's time for a sabbatical there too.

aunty belle..

actually i was thinking of the good ole american kind of donut..
although, really, there is something about a french bakery..
or even a german bakery,
which i think is better..

x.dell,

i doubt i could stay away from your blog for long though ..
too interesting.. :)

i remember this moment when it happened to me. i went into museum education from there...a relief to be with adults and also to not have to talk incessantly. i still teach a 2 week gig at emory but the the pay is great, the class size small, and the college helpers have to do the sh*t work so i can just do the art part.

it was the management of personalities that drove me out. and administrators.

you'll figure something out. i'll keep my fingers crossed for you -that it goes the way it is supposed to go.

im going to have to make another blog soon. about the art stuff. there just isnt enough time in each day.

i swear ive said i was going to kill my blog at least 4-5 times and never did it.

kept. holdin. on.....

SUMMER vacation!!!! relax. ahhhhhhhhh

1) I go for the "start a new blog"...or "continue this one"..as long as it isn't "not to blog at all."

2) Donut business...cool! Reminds me of my friend, Martha, who has been in the Dunkin Donut business since college...She said they never sell leftovers the next day...she gives them away...doesn't even eat donuts herself.

I have a fave donut place here called "Country Style"...Their donuts aren't that sweet....course' I like Mr. Donut as well..I prefer the chocolate types only....plus coffee...( imagining a dozen donuts nicely squeezed in a yellow box)...oh oww'...I WANT ONE RIGHT NOW!!!

3)My first job at 19 was at Wendy's. I started my first half a minute on the job by wrapping and serving a burger sandwich that didn't have any "burger" in it he!he!

4) I've never heard of an "email summit"...sounds fun( Aunty Bell's comment).

5) I'm sure you'll miss the kids if you stop teaching...but then again..it could be so totally restful...and exciting to start something new.

So you are quitting teaching?

I hope you don't stop blogging. I'll miss you. :-( But if you have to, you have to. Sometimes other things take priority.

hey there! Happy Mothers Day to you!

Hope it was a good day...

to blog or not to blog... i guess i fall into the latter category these days. i did really miss it in the beginning, but i have managed without it. found other things... kept myself busy... iam not sure if i am better or worse without it though.

oh and i am still planning that drive north! Looks like it will happen in mid july. hope you will be around so I can stop and visit you!=]

lol to dells comment.

Now listen lil missy. You go out to that kitchen, make some donuts, set down at your computer, eat those donuts and BLOG. It is obvious you have many blogging friends that would feel lost without you.

You know those children deserve the best and you are one of the best. They need people like you. Heck, I might have been able to draw if I had a good looking teacher like you teaching me.:))

I agree with x.dell about a German woman making French donuts.

Sounds like many of us have the blogging blues but hate to quit due to the friends we have made.
