Hey Pal,
The railroad picture reminds me of where I live. An engineer told me we have approximately 127 trains roll through out little town in a week. Many times we are stopped like that. *&^%$#@!!! Beautiful country back there but too many rednecks. Some have a German accent.:))

foam said...

only at the railroad ..
and then i was stopped ..

nah..... IT don't wanna phone home ..

the rails in our town are defunct, but in the town down the road (the photo above) they run pretty regularly..
german accented rednecks? why, i'm moving right up yonder then ..

I used to take pics while driving too..but I was stopped too. Nice to see all these scenery around you!

The bird.
Is it a heron?

You have some nice surroundings where you live.
I like to be out in the nature and walk and walk and walk ...
It is good medicine for almost everything.

"30 minutes from where I live" looks amazing!!!!

anna-lys ..
yes, the western part of nc is geographically pretty amazing.

you know, eric ..
i'm not really sure what it is.
i was thinking it was a crane, but i could be mistaken.
i love long walks and hikes myself.

yes ..
but i've also been known to take pics while driving. not really a good idea.

We have always enjoyed images of the sjy and of mountains. Thank you for posting those pictures.

mountains are good places to soar..

Your area has wonderfully diverse topography. From sea to hills/mountains, all within a half hour's drive.

Great shots. The mountains are beautiful! We do have them out here, but they don't have any trees on them.

foam said...,
yes, that's one of the blessings of living in this part of the state.

thank you. i saw treeless mountains when i visited El Paso years ago. they had a particular and spectacular kind of arid beauty.

The quote on Your blogs footnote;
"Unhappy the land that is in need of heroes." (Bertolt Brecht)
I find interesting to find here. Have You developed it somewhere in an older post? I would like to look behind Your sun-glasses ;-))

foam said...

it's a quote that i had on the sidebar of a previous blog of mine.
obviously i'm not much into writing about politics, philosophical life issues, etc. .. :).
but this particular short quote summs up how i've been feeling .. about certain issues. and it will stay up for as long as i feel it is appropriate.
there's only brown eyes behind those glasses .. and beyond that there is a thinking, but often times muddled, brain within the skull cavity .. ;)

hey foamie,

some nice pics!

btw, i'm fine (thx 4 askin) -- the surgery post is just a subject of creative exploration, not a document of fact...

Hi Foam!

Thanks for visiting my blog today. Yeah... I guess fundamentalist Christians take comfort in never giving polite consideration to anything that challenges their very finite worldview. ::frown:: but thanks for your kindness and acceptance of us.

inthereththing thubthect matther..

yes, well, i did say that in the name of self righteous fundamental values a lot of pain can be inflicted ... it doesn't realy just apply to christians..
and i'm still sorry your feelings got hurt just because ya'll are who you are.

It looks more like a heron. I have not seen cranes with that bend of the neck. But I don´t know if there are herons in NC.

I hope you have a warm day as you are promise.

We are promised a lot of rain this coming weekend. Bye, bye snow.

We have now in Sweden 11800 (they are counting them, must be tricky) cranes arrived at Hornborgarsjön, 150 km from Gothenburg. Every year they come from Spain. And for a week or so they have an enormous party. Dancing! But I have never been there. Next year I must.
